Cirrus Flight Training at SRQ Aviation

Our mission

To deliver to you the highest level of skill and training. We do this by being exclusively Cirrus. But that’s not all we do. Flight training at SRQ Aviation gives pilots a full, comprehensive foundation so they can fly with complete proficiency and confidence.

Garmin Perspective

All planes in our fleet of new Cirrus aircraft are equipped with Garmin Perspective, glass cockpit avionics, air conditioning, and many more amenities. In other words: training will be safe and comfortable. No other flight school in Sarasota can guarantee this level of service during their training.

Scenario Based Training

Real life scenarios training (the FAA labels this “Scenario Based Training”) is an improved method of flight training that moves away from antiquated teaching methods. It allows pilots to gain real-world flight experience. Our unique scenario-based training helps you master essential skills faster.

FAA Approved Training Simulator

The safest pilot is the prepared pilot, and our FAA Approved Training Simulator prepares you for real world challenges and simulated extreme weather conditions without real world consequences. This simulator reduces your overall training costs and increases your ability to develop good habits that transfer to real-life flight.

What training is right for you?

At SRQ Aviation, you’ll train on advanced, state-of-the-art planes with experienced, Cirrus-certified instructors. All your training is done on your time, on your schedule. Exceptional training. Tailored to you.

Private Pilot Training (PPL)

Your PPL training is a combination of home study through Cirrus’ training portal, simulator training, ground instruction, and flight time. Once this training is complete, you’ll pass a written test and a “checkride,” which is an oral test, as well as an in-flight practical test with an FAA-designated evaluator. Your private pilot’s license entitles  you to operate single-engine aircraft in clear weather conditions.

How long does it take?

Every training is tailored to the student pilot, so you can take as long as you need to earn your license. The minimum requirements of the FAA are 40  flight hours and 20 instruction hours. However, Cirrus pilots usually require 55-75 flight hours because of the advanced features of the aircraft.

What does it cost to become a PPL in a new Cirrus plane?

Pricing begins at $18k

Are there any prerequisites?

The only prerequisites to begin training are you must be at least 17 years old, a US Citizen or TSA Approved, proficient in English language. You will have other requirements before you are able to be fully licensed, but you can begin training before these are complete.
